I’ve been thinking with and about hurricane’s for a long time, one of the ways that I think through things is with images and sound, it’s a way that helps me make sense of the pull, or the recurrence of something. Hurricane’s are deeply personal to me as is the importance of what they signify, the histories they tell and the future they foretell. This short found footage essay film is me at the beginning of a thought that I am working through, and an expression of a feeling of responsibility to my families in the Caribbean whose lives are shaped by the recurrence of the hurricane’s devastation. It is me asking how do we live in cycles of recurring violence, how do we bend but not break, how do we find life amid the ruins.
